Very Few Christians Have a Biblical Worldview

Very Few Christians have a Biblical worldview. A recent survey from Cultural Research Center at Arizona Christian University found that only 9% of professing Christians possess a biblical worldview.

This is a very low number by any standard, and of course, the only question that arises after reading the survey is why people who claim to be Christians do not hold to a biblical worldview? After all, a biblical worldview is what Christianity is really all about.

The study points out how so many Christians hold views that “are not in harmony with biblical teachings.” Such as:

  • 72% argue that people are basically good
  • 71% consider feelings, experience, or the input of friends and family as their most trusted sources of moral guidance
  • 66% say that having faith matters more than which faith you pursue • 64% say that all religious faiths are of equal value
  • 58% believe that if a person is good enough, or does enough good things, they can earn their way into Heaven
  • 58% contend that the Holy Spirit is not a real, living being but is merely a symbol of God’s power, presence, or purity
  • 57% believe in karma
  • 52% claim that determining moral truth is up to each individual; there are no moral absolutes that apply to everyone, all the time

Of course, our Christian views should come from a personal study of the word of God. But I’m not alone in thinking that so many Christians only rely on the little to no spiritual teaching that one gets on Sunday morning church.

What’s worse is when churches have so diluted the word of God in the pulpit that it’s almost nonexistent. Many churches went as far as substituting biblical preaching and teaching for a Ted Talk styled motivational speech. That is, a combination of business and motivational quotes barely sprinkled with few bible verses delivered in a humorous and inspirational style.

Is there any surprise then why a shockingly low number of Christian Americans have a biblical worldview?

  1. this is one of the most biblical commentary about what is going on in our so-called christian churches nowadays; especially here in our country, they are mostly unbiblical, going back to the bible is the one needed action to take
